The Museum of Islamic Arts is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Doha. The museum features a priceless collection of masterpieces and treasures dating from 7th to 19th century Islamic cultures. In addition to the gallery space the museum has a library, restaurant, hanging gardens and a water garden with fountains. The building was designed by the famous architect I. M. Pei (Louvre Museum Pyramid and Washington DC National Gallery of Art).
The Islamic Culture Center and mosque are housed in the iconic spiral building off the Corniche. In addition to the mosque it also includes a department store and a cultural center with a permanent exhibition of Islamic teachings and traditions. Guided tours are available by appointment.
Named after a famous Muslim scholar from the 18th century this beautiful landmark opened in December 2011 and is the largest mosque in Qatar with a capacity of over 10,000 people. The mosque is not open to non-Muslims.
Katara has state of the art venues such as theatres, libraries, art galleries, an amphitheater, a beachfront promenade, casual and fine dining restaurants and coffee shops. Its ambition is to acknowledge and promote artistic heritage and traditions from diverse cultures. The iconic Corniche stretches 7 kilometers from the Museum of Islamic Arts all the way downtown to Dafna.
